That was my first impression of him when I first met him in Békéscsaba. A firm handshake, clear and honest gaze. Straight back. Businessman and athlete. The love of nature. Well that is where we first met, in Békéscsaba.
Let me talk about the Viharsarok area (geographical location known as storm corner). The distance between Szarvas and Békéscsaba is around 50k. In other words a generous marathon. Some never even attempt to run this distance, in one go. Others pop champagne if they manage to nail half of it. For him this is just a gentle warm-up.
Because he has completed 2500 kilometres without rest! And not just once! I am proud to personally know him, if for nothing else then for this amazing achievement of his. But this is not where his real genius lies. He has a special talent for summarizing, categorizing and organizing all his experiences that stem from his incredible achievements. And then he is able to pass it on to others. Both in the world of business and in the world of sport. Because it is a must to the learn from the feelings of euphoria when on top, and the struggles one has to suffer through when one is down in the valley, but it is essential to know that after the sweat and toil of the fight comes the brilliant smile of true happiness. And if we not only know this but also believe it, then we are already half way there! And to guide us along we need someone who is a valid human being in our eyes.
For sometimes we lose sight our goal, we lose our conviction and mistake the irrelevant for the important. Well, this is when we need a helping hand (or not just a hand but a goal oriented attitude, business ethics, hiking boots or running shoes.)
Someone who has it all together.
Someone like Matyi Szarvas.
